COMING AND GOING TO SCHOOL & CAR-PARKING
(49) Tuesday, April 16, 2013

COMING AND GOING TO SCHOOL & CAR-PARKING

                   Dear Parents / Guardians   -   Wed. 17th April 2013.

The Community Centre, St. Luke’s N.S. and Tyrrelestown E.T.N.S. meet regularly to review the safety of pupils at arrival and home-times. We are always open to suggestions to improve the situation in and around our complex.

1. Please consider walking or cycling when coming to school. If walking from home or from Tyrrelstown Town Centre you will need to prepare for the wet days, even in summer.

2. Please consider car-pooling and parking away from the school. Thank you for not parking in the BELGREE area. The roads are very narrow there and extra cars parked in Belgree cause safety concerns for children and disruption to residents.

3. From Monday 13th May (4 weeks time) ONLY STAFF, OFFICIAL DISABILITY Sticker Holders and SETANTA personnel will have access to the car park at our school complex at school opening and closing times. The gates will be closed to all others.  If you have a car, we would suggest that you park away from the school and walk to the school.

4. We want to have our schools as accessible as possible at the start and finish to the school-day, especially for our infant pupils. We also appreciate that you may have younger children with you but we are constrained by the fact that the complex is in a cul-de-sac and that the car-park becomes dangerous when too many cars come in. We will review this arrangement before the summer holidays and your opinions are important.

Le Meas,

                   Martin Kavanagh –St.Luke’s N.S.

                   Maurice Hurley – Tyrrelstown E.T.N.S.

Multi-Cultural Day Thursday, 21st March

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Every year we celebrate the fact that the children and families in our school come from many different nationalities all around the world and on Thursday we invite the children to come to school dressed in the native clothes/colours of their culture for Multi-Cultural Day. Children can bring the following:

  • A packed lunch – No school bags needed.
  • Wear clothes/colours of their native country.
  • Bring food from their country to share with their class – children may bring in a sweet or savoury dish/snack native to their country i.e. an example of their native cuisine. Please ensure that a label naming the food and its country of origin is included.

The children will participate in activities organised by the school including music workshops. We ask kindly for a donation of €5 per family to help us with the cost of the day.

We invite parents to come to the hall at 1.30 to see their children perform a song or a poem from another country.

Junior and Senior Infants will be dismissed from their classrooms at the later time of approximately 2pm.

Looking forward to seeing you there

Blanchardstown and District Credit Union - Primary Schools Quiz 2013

Congratulations to the students from 5th and 6th class in St. Lukes who represented the school so well at the Blanchardstown and District Credit Union - Primary Schools Quiz 2013:

The team worked really hard in the lead up to the quiz and should be proud of their efforts on the night. They were excellent. It was the schools first time to enter the quiz and we have been invited to enter again in 2014.

This is the feedback from the Credit Union quiz co-ordinator, Gemma:

Hi Vivienne,

I’m delighted you attended and of course we will look forward to your attendance next year. I’m glad the children enjoyed it, it is a good night and we look forward to it each year too. See you all again next year.

Kind Regards

Gemma
