Saint Luke's National School School Admissions & Participation Policy
Saint Luke's School is a Mainstream Catholic School. It is under the patronage of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin.
The Board of Management of the school has a policy of Admissions and Participation based on the following prioritised (1 - 4) criteria:
1. Admission of all catholic children who have reached the age of four on or before 30th June of entry year and who live in Mulhuddart parish. In the event that the number of applicants seeking enrolment exceeds the number of places available, the following decision making process will apply:
Places will be allocated in sequential order according to numbers 2 to 4 below;
If the number of applicants within any group exceeds the number of places available, places will be allocated according to chronological age, i.e. older children in each group will have precedence over younger children.
2. Siblings - whose brothers or sisters are already in the school and who fulfil age requirement.
3. Children of a Christian faith who live in the parish and fulfil age requirement - where places are available.
4. All children of other faiths or of none who apply and who live in the parish and fulfil age requirement, provided that 1, 2, and 3 have been accommodated.
Category 4 have a right to have their children excluded from specific Catholic Instruction if they so wish.
However, they must accept the general characteristic spirit of the school.
All children are welcomed and educated according to the requirement of our curriculum for Primary Schools.
Our Code of Behaviour dictates that each pupil observes the Rules of the school.
If parents/guardians make an application for a child with Special Needs they must provide a medical and/or psychological report. A conference of parent/s, class teacher, Principal and Resource Teacher would be recommended so that, for example, appropriate resource hours or Special Needs Assistant hours would be provided by the Department of Education and Science. The Board of Management of Saint Luke's National Schoo may feel it is necessary to defer enrolment until such time as resources are in place or parents may be advised to consider sending the child to a school which specifically caters for children with Special Education Needs.
Applications for September 2016 should be made only for those who have NOT already been accepted into another school and whose 4th birthday is on or before June 30th of the year of enrolment.
Application forms are available directly at the school or you can download ,below, a copy of the application form.
