Saint Luke’s National School Notes From the Principal 7th January 2015 Dear Parents, Punctuality I wrote to you concerning Punctuality and Attendance on the 31st of March 2014. I wish to inform you that there has been an improvement in terms of punctuality at Assembly time. Thank you for making the effort to be regularly punctual. I am delighted to see this improvement in Morning Assembly. It is important now that we continue with our efforts. Please make sure that children are collected promptly at Afternoon Dismissal time. This term, I will be continuing to encourage a high attendance in school. Please support us in this endeavour – encouraging your child to attend school when they are healthy enough and avoid non attendance whenever possible. Pantomime The New Year Pantomime takes place on Tuesday 13th January in the school. The famous lambert Puppet theatre are providing the pantomime. It is an enjoyable event for the children and a worthwhile educational experience. There is a nominal charge of €2. Please forward the €2 to the class teacher by Monday 12th January 2015. Road Safety Authority The R.S.A. publishes an annual road safety report and it indicates that the number of children who died on Irish roads in 2014 has increased by 50%. This is a shocking statistic. Safety, in general, is discussed with the children in school. Please talk to your children about Road Safety and encourage them to walk on the footpaths on the way to school and on the footpaths in the school car park School Secretary The secretary is available to deal with school business from 9.30a.m. – 2.30p.m.The school office is closed from 9.00a.m. 9.30a.m.There will be no secretarial services between 9.00a.m. – 9.30a.m. Is Mise Le Meas, _____________________ Mairtín Ó Caomhánaigh Príomhoide Punctuality Please be in your line in time for a 9.00a.m. Morning Assembly Junior Infants, Seniors Infants Afternoon Dismissal @ 1.40p.m. First Class – Sixth Class Afternoon Dismissal @ 2.40p.m |

The true spirit of Christmas and the message of Jesus Christ are alive and well in St Luke’sNationalSchool. Numerous donations were made by the families in the school to the St Vincent De Paul hamper collection in St Luke’s The Evangelist parish.. The Christmas Concerts conclude the first term. It is inspirational to see the children participate so wholeheartedly and perform wonderfully on the concert nights. Your attendance on the night encourages and motivates the children. A special word of thanks to all the teachers who have prepared the children. However, it is your day to day support of the teaching staff, that ensures a strong partnership in education and assists in providing the children with a meaningful and worthwhile long term educational experience. I am grateful to the Parents’ Association who have dedicated themselves to the school in so many ways throughout the first term. The Halloween and Christmas celebrations were a great success. School re-opens on Monday 5th January 2015 @ 9.00a.m. Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi mhaise Mairtín Ó Caomhánaigh Príomhoide |

Flood update |
(220) Friday, November 14, 2014 |
Dear Parents, Many thanks to all the parents & guardians who helped yesterday during difficult weather conditions. We sent advisory texts before hometime to parents in First & Second Classes which were successfully received. However, the messages sent to Third to Sixth classes were not received , for some technical reason. The school is open as per usual. Last night, a Fingal County Council digger removed debris from a storm drain near the school. This appears to have been the cause of the flooding. There is no flooding at the Belgree gate this morning. Again, the council removed debris from a drain to relieve the situation. |

Belgree Gate Pool of Water |
(217) Wednesday, November 12, 2014 |
Please be advised of a large pool of water at the Belgree Gate entrance to the Park near the school. With recent heavy rain, the children can get their feet wet on the way to school. We contacted Fingal County Council who attempted to remedy the situation , alas , to no avail. Please consider an alternative route for your child until the issue is resolved. Please advise the children to steer clear of any gullies of water near the school as they can become quite full during periods of heavy rain. |
