Aquatics
This year the third classes are returning again to the National Aquatic Centre in November and December to attend swimming lessons.
Last year boys and girls from the 3rd classes also got the wonderful opportunity to attend swimming lessons at the National Aquatic Centre. The lessons ran for 6 weeks every Wednesday. The children learnt so many important skills and they really enjoyed the experience.

For more information see our Swimming Policy below:

Ms Mc Guane, Ms Lennon, Ms Hogan, Ms Cullinan and Ms Bolger’s class trialled the water safety programme with their classes in June 2022 in support of the Aquatics strand in PE. After the great success of the programme we have decided to incorporate it into our whole school plan to be taught to Junior Infants, First Class, Third and Fifth class each year going forward.
Water Safety Ireland’s PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety) outlines the essential life-saving guidelines that every child needs to know.
Written and designed for all age groups, with beautiful illustrations, a wealth of tips and advice, and all sorts of interactive games and puzzles to reinforce the lessons learned, PAWS offers simple common sense on how we can be safe around our waterways. Each child becomes a certified PAWs hero after participating in the programme.

Gymnastics Circuit
April is the month that the whole school practice their Gymnastics skills in PE. To try out all their new skills learnt during the month of April, all classes participated in a gymnastics circuit in the hall during their PE time in the first week of May. They practiced a variety of gymnastic moves like travelling, jumping, rolling and balancing.
